Moosehead Lakes Region, June 1st, 2008

Alex and I took the new boat for a test run and he landed this 14" Salmon that was released. The boat runs great and will lead to many more stories I'm sure. We then headed to a local pond with no luck. The next day we hit another pond and landed 6 nice brookies. Some on dry flies and some on a harrys. A couple of the smaller ones were put back but we saved a few for dinner. Alan showed up just in time to open the wine with an ice auger (someone forgot the cork screw) and joined us for a fish dinner. The next day we canoed some of the kenebec and did not catch aything but chubs, bass and perch. We did see a giant golden eagle along the way. The rapids were a trick with three people in a canoe and a giant beer cooler. Luckily Alan and Alex wore waders and were able to hop out here and there and navigate the canoe safely. I broke in the new jeep by blasting it through a giant mud puddle (or small pond) only to come out the other side stalled out. It took her a minute to flush the water out of the intake and the she started right back up...A bit nerve racking when you're in the middle of no where. All in all, a fun trip despite the relentless rain. I guess that's why we bring the jameson!
