Saco Bay Stripers 6-21-08

Went out again and finally had some luck on the outgoing. Saw some huge jumps so we anchored near the action. We chummed mackeral around the boat and then threw out some carolina rigs. Must have had 5 or 6 on and we were able to land 3. All of em about 2 feet long probably 7 or 8 lbs. Some great fights and all were let go. Only had a cell phone and this was at night so the pics are crappy.

Moosehead Lakes Region, June 1st, 2008

Alex and I took the new boat for a test run and he landed this 14" Salmon that was released. The boat runs great and will lead to many more stories I'm sure. We then headed to a local pond with no luck. The next day we hit another pond and landed 6 nice brookies. Some on dry flies and some on a harrys. A couple of the smaller ones were put back but we saved a few for dinner. Alan showed up just in time to open the wine with an ice auger (someone forgot the cork screw) and joined us for a fish dinner. The next day we canoed some of the kenebec and did not catch aything but chubs, bass and perch. We did see a giant golden eagle along the way. The rapids were a trick with three people in a canoe and a giant beer cooler. Luckily Alan and Alex wore waders and were able to hop out here and there and navigate the canoe safely. I broke in the new jeep by blasting it through a giant mud puddle (or small pond) only to come out the other side stalled out. It took her a minute to flush the water out of the intake and the she started right back up...A bit nerve racking when you're in the middle of no where. All in all, a fun trip despite the relentless rain. I guess that's why we bring the jameson!

May 26th, Sebago Lake, Maine

My Dad, brother and I set out again for Salmon and this time Alan comes up big with this giant male. This thing crushed a spoon on the surface that looked like a blue dare devil almost. Put up a great fight with multiple tail walks. 23.5" 5lbs!!!

May 4th Sebago Lake, Maine

It was rainy and cold but that did not stop us from getting the boat in the water as we journeyed to the mouth of the crooked river on Sebago. It's no secret where to go on this lake and when to do it. We had about 13 boats around us doing the same thing. Did not see any of them landing fish and I was beginning to think about what I should change on our rigs. I then picked up my fly rod to give it a little play and then BAM! A salmon had found temporary solace in my tandem streamer fly only to realize it was connected to something much larger. Rather than tail walks and head thrashing, he kept diving down which leads me to believe most fish are not truly up where my fly line was. I'm guessing I was only 15 ft under the surface and most of the smelt schools are still deeper than that. They should be coming closer to the surface soon but it sure felt nice to be able to get to this one this early in the season without a downrigger. After a nice fight we got him close enough to the surface so Dad could net him while Mom kept the boat steady. It had both hooks in it's mouth which resulted in a blood bath. I did not think he would make it so I had to keep him. This was the best tasting Salmon I've ever had and could feed 4 people!! 22" 4 lbs is not a bad start to the season!!

Sailing in the U.S. and British Virgin islands. February 2008

What a trip!! A fantastic 10 day voyage across the virgin islands. We ran into some yellowtail, king macks and jacks. There was one king mack that was about triple the size of the one shown here. The boat didn't have a landing net so there was no way to get this 15lb monster in the boat. Once I reeled him in and got him alongside I tried to pick him up by the line but even his dead weight was no match for the 12lb mono. The jacks were a great fight and good size as well!

This dude ran across our path on a hike in Virgin Gorda!

I played Captain.

also drove the dinghy. Too fast apparently...

If you're scared of flying don't ever get into one of these.

Carribbean Lobster has nothing on Maine Lobster.

Smelt like wintah

Smeltin w/ Alex and Andre after Christmass. Very fun. Probably hauled in about 40 or so and ate them that night. A classic down east past time in Maine. Can't wait to go again!

Squam Lake Summer 2007

Trollin' with the misses..they say there are salmon in this lake...yet to be seen. Beautiful place though and very clear water. Caught a few bass and even more rays.
